Resting
There is much to be done with little time to do it. A key choice the players must often make is whether to press forward into great danger or rest awhile to regain their stamina.
Basics
There is much to be done with little time to do it. A key choice the players must often make is whether to press forward into great danger or rest awhile to regain their stamina.
There are three types of rest: a moment's rest, a night's rest, and a day's rest. Each one happens in a different frame of play. Don't worry if you see a term you don't recognize: all the concepts listed here are explained more thoroughly in later sections.
A moment's rest is a brief respite during exploration. It is an exploration action, meaning it takes about 10 minutes.
Eat: each resting character must eat, making a supply check for a ration in their inventory. A character who cannot eat loses 1 endurance, then gains the other benefits.
Refasten: You recover all spent guard dice.
Refocus: Remove one checkmark on a deed with a rising focus cost.
Spend Recoveries: Each character may spend any number of their available recoveries.
A night's rest represents stopping to enjoy a full night of sleep. It is a journey action so it takes about 8 hours. Before the rest is resolved, the Judge must make a malice check to see if creatures stumble upon the party in their sleep. After a night's rest, whether or not it was interrupted, each character does the following:
Eat: each resting character must eat, making a supply check for a ration in their inventory. A character who cannot eat loses 1 endurance, then gains the other benefits.
Refocus: Choose on deed you have with a rising focus cost and reset it back to normal.
Refasten: You recover all spent guard dice.
Recover Vigor: Each character fully regains their vigor.
Reset Recoveries: each character loses their remaining recoveries, and gains a number equal to their endurance.
A day's rest is an extended period of rest in your haven. Character's don't need to eat during this time, because rations are not tracked in the haven frame. At the end of a day's rest, each character gains all the benefits listed below.
Recover Endurance: Each characters vigor, and recoveries are set to their maximum value. They also recover 4 endurance.
Refasten: You recover all spent guard dice.
Refocus: All deeds you have with increased focus cost are reset to normal.
Heal Injury: each character may advance one of their injury clocks by 1.
